Job Description

  • Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire pump systems, including electric, diesel, and jockey pumps.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of fire pumps, motors/engines, couplings, bearings, seals, valves, and related equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventive and corrective maintenance on fire pump systems.
  • Check pump pressure, flow, vibration, temperature, alignment, and overall mechanical condition.
  • Perform fire pump performance tests, including churn/no-flow and flow tests.
  • Troubleshoot and repair common mechanical problems such as leakage, abnormal vibration, overheating, bearing issues, coupling misalignment, and pressure problems.
  • Inspect and service diesel engine components, including fuel system, cooling system, batteries, belts, hoses, and lubrication system.
  • Inspect fire pump valves, piping, strainers, gauges, and pressure-relief arrangements.
  • Assist with pump installation, alignment, commissioning, and system testing.
  • Carry out basic mechanical dismantling, repair, replacement, and reassembly of pump components.
  • Read and understand pump drawings, piping layouts, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with electrical/control technicians when troubleshooting pump controllers, automatic start functions, and alarms.
